This blog started out as a wedding blog to post details about our big day. Now that my favorite day has come and gone, I decided to make our blog into a place where I could share our journey with the rest of the world. Below is our story, which I couldn’t seem to delete…so here’s to half of the name, the “Newly Wed” piece of the blog:
“This picture is from where it all started on September 16, 2010.
Charlie, for some unknown reason, decided to text Kathryn and ask her to go to the Cole Brothers Circus. Kathryn had to work the night of the circus, much to Charlie’s dismay. So, Kathryn, a little thrown off by his initiation in the first place, decided to flirt a little bit. They realized that even though they wouldn’t be able to make it to the Athens circus in town that the circus would being doing another show in Lawrenceville, only 30 minutes away the next night. Kathryn totally jokingly decided to mess with him about the idea of going to the show in Lawrenceville anyways. Charlie at this point was semi-interested in this flirtatious girl, so he decided to make the trip all the way to Lawrenceville to see the circus, a reality! The night was filled with telling each other life stories, eating cotton candy, and watching cheesy circus acts.
From that night on, Charlie and Kathryn started becoming best friends. Through texting, studying at the SLC, and random group hang outs, Charlie and Kathryn started to get to know each other on a more personal and spiritual level. At this point, they would both admit that they’d each found someone unlike any other!
On October 29, 2010 Charlie told Kathryn he had feelings for her…but she didn’t reciporicate completely, but just hinted that she was interested. Charlie then pursued her all the more- even leaving flowers on her car when she was sick! Charlie obviously, to the knowledge of anyone around that he was fighting for Kathryn relentlessly. Through his continual pursuance she started to find herself falling for him, too.
On February 7, 2011 Charlie asked Kathryn to be his girlfriend on a beautiful spot on the railroad tracks overlooking the river (he knew train tracks were her favorite!). That day was the start of an incredible journey together…
…a journey that has led them to marriage.”
